Veneers are one of the most rewarding procedure in dentistry. Someone's appearance and confidence can drastically change in a short amount of time. It is also one of the most labor intensive procedures that a dentist provides. It requires vision, planning, precision, skill, artistry, A vision creates a plan and if carried out with skill the end result can be natural and beautiful. the steps taken to cement the veneers can prevent staining and cavities and easily last for more than 20 years. I have spent countless hours of education and practice to be able to control every step of the process. Every case that I do starts with pictures of a current smile and a discussion with the patient, this creates a vision. this vision is designed by hand before it is transferred to the patient to be able see and use as a trial. Once the temporary trial is approved by the patient I scan and design and design each veneer digitally. The veneers are made and shaped by hand. Characteristics and layers of translucency are incorporated before a final glaze and finishing is completed.
on cementation day the teeth are kept isolated and clean and every step that can be taken to improve the lifespan of the veneers is taken. Floss should pass smoothly between the teeth without catching on ledges. the bite should feel comfortable and speech should not be impacted. I expect to feel that they were part of the process and thrilled with the outcome. Finally A night-guard may be required to help protect the porcelain from those that clench/grind.
